5 Point Summer Cleaning Checklist

May 31, 2024

Check it out! It’s the Summer cleaning checklist you didn’t know you needed. If you know me, you know I love checklists. Checklists keep me organized, on track, and on task. Naturally, they can do the same for you. So, where should we start on our summer cleaning checklist? Let’s dive in!

5 Point Summer Cleaning Checklist

       1. Let Summer In!

Open your windows and let some fresh air and sunshine in. It can chase away the winter blues and change the mood of your home. I remember my mom doing this every year. My mom opened the windows as soon as it warmed up – and not just a few windows, but all of them. She’d also put fans in the windows, saying it “got rid of the bad air.” I think my mom may have had a good point!

      2. Throw that Throw Rug in the Laundry

Once again, I’m still thinking about my mom. Every summer, she washed all of the household rugs – and the curtains too. She washed them in her fancy wringer washing machine (Google it!) in the basement, and then she would hang them outside to dry in the wind. According to her, there was nothing fresher than drying your wash on a clothesline.

      3. Get Ready for the Heat

Summer is almost here, and that means high temperatures are on the way. It’s time to get ready for the heat, so why not start by cleaning your ceiling fans?  Once the fans are taken care of, you’ll want to tackle your AC vents. But don’t just dust them off; remove the covers and vacuum them out. After that, change your HVAC air filter. While you’re at it, get out your summer clothes.

       4. Make Time for Some Deep Cleaning

Summer is the perfect time to tackle those deep cleaning tasks you’ve been putting off. This includes cleaning the fridge, washing windows and blinds, and decluttering your closets. I like to start with the toughest chore first, so for me, it’s the kitchen, starting with the refrigerator using my trusty Bar Keepers Friend  MORE Spray + Foam and a soft sponge. I love it because after I’ve emptied the fridge, I set the MORE Spray + Foam on foam. After all, it adheres to horizontal surfaces! All you do is spray, wipe, and dry it with a soft cloth.

It’s an excellent time to get out the BKF Powder Cleanser and deep-clean your sink. Of course, you’ll want to polish the cabinets and sweep the floors. Bar Keepers Friend has more products that simplify deep cleaning your kitchen.

      5. Take a Splash at the Bath

Any home cleaning checklist would be incomplete without listing the bathroom! Let’s start with the yuckiest thing to clean in the bathroom: the toilet. Did you know there’s a Bar Keepers Friend Toilet Bowl Cleaner? There is, and it works great. It even has an angled spout for easy under-the-rim application and an extra-thick formula that clings to the bowl for added cleaning power. Here’s more: Spotlight: Bar Keepers Friend Toilet Bowl Cleaner.

We also have a product that can help your toilet operate better. It’s not a cleaning product. EZ-Flush is a toilet flushing aid. It’s heavier than water, so it sinks to clog-prone areas, which helps prevent clogs. Preventing clogs makes more sense than dealing with a clogged toilet. I can’t think of many household chores that are more disgusting than dealing with a clogged toilet, can you?

Do you have hard water and rust stains in your sink and tub? If so, Bar Keepers Friend Original Powder Cleanser is the go-to for rust removal.

What Would You Add to the Summer Cleaning Checklist?

Remember to tackle high-traffic and often overlooked areas during your summer cleaning routine. Taking the time to deep clean and declutter can leave your home feeling fresh and rejuvenated for the warmer months ahead.

Do you have some summer cleaning tips using Bar Keepers Friend? If you do, you can share them at #BKFBeforeAndAfter. We’d love to hear your idea, and it could be featured on one of our social media accounts, our website, or even on a can of Bar Keepers Friend!
