This week’s Team Talk is with Sharron Ison-Hicks. Bar Keepers Friend Team Talk is a chance to get to know us—one team member at a time. It’s a glimpse behind the curtain. In this series, we ask individual teammates questions designed to share insights into the BKF family and reveal a little about the people behind the brand.

Sharron has been a member of the BKF family for 26 years and has worn many hats. I shouldn’t say she has worn many hats because she still does! When I asked about her position and role at Bar Keepers Friend, I was surprised by how many roles she plays.

Team Talk: Sharron Ison-Hicks  

Sharon, what is your position and role at Bar Keepers Friend?

“My position is VP of Warehousing and Data Management. I’m responsible for our warehouse as well as satellite warehouses. I oversee inventory, replenishment issues, and order fulfillment for all the warehouses. I also register new products, and work with new partners.”

“I manage our electronic data interchange (EDI), global status, UPC (Universal Product Code), and update mapping which is matching fields from one database to another. I make certain that all our ingredients on all products comply with WERCS (Worldwide Environmental Regulatory Compliance Solutions).”

“I’m involved with production, accounting, and invoicing, and I assist the sales team with customer needs. I like to say work smarter, not harder.”

Why do you work at Bar Keepers Friend?

“I enjoy the challenges! I face new ones every day. I like to troubleshoot. I’m proud of what we do and what we sell, and I really enjoy my job.”

What do you appreciate about the Bar Keepers Friend culture?

“It’s an empowering culture of open-minded people who promote individual growth. I’ve obtained two business degrees while working here that BKF financed.”

What’s something about Bar Keepers Friend that most people don’t know?

“That it’s completely family owned and operated. It’s like a family and I feel part of it. When I came here there were only twenty-six people working here!”

How do you use Bar Keepers Friend Products?

“My favorite is Bar Keepers Friend Original Powder Cleanser, and I like MORE Spray + Foam with the versatility of the upside-down spray. Also, the Stainless Steel Cleaner & Polish.”

What are your hobbies and interests?

“I have seven grandkids and one on the way so that’s a lot of fun. I’m a huge baseball fan, Go Cubs! I coach girls’ softball and baseball, and my husband and I like to fish!”
