Interview with Kenna

Last week, I had the privilege of interviewing home renovation expert (and BKF super fan),  Kenna Valdez. The interview almost went off the rails when I began asking about the mountain cabin she and her husband renovated. While browsing through her Instagram and blog, I mentioned how captivated I was with that project. After some back and forth, we (thankfully) did get around to the interview. 

Kenna is direct, honest, and loves BKF as much as I do. She also has a great story to share! Read on!

How did you learn about Bar Keepers Friend?

“I started flipping furniture 15 years ago and would struggle with cleaning hardware. I tried water and destroyed some hardware. Then I tried Bar Keepers Friend! It’s like magic and works better than anything else I tried, and I tried many products.”

What BKF products do you use?

“Bar Keepers Friend Cleanser and Soft Cleanser are my go-to. For me, they’re interchangeable. I also use Stainless Steel Cleanser & Polish on my appliances, like my fridge and dishwasher.”

Why do you talk about Bar Keepers Friend products?

“I want my audience to know what to use and that I use the products I’m sharing. I want people to know they can trust me and give people the real deal, which is what Bar Keepers Friend is.”

What’s it like working with the BKF staff?

“Fantastic! Easily one of my favorite collaborations. Low pressure and fits seamlessly. The team understands what I do and lets me do it, and I get to work with a brand I love. They’re easy to work with. I have creative freedom. Without that, it’s not fun; it’s miserable.”

Tell me about yourself.

People will ask me if I wasn’t renovating, what would I be doing? I’d be more efficient at renovating. It’s what I love! For stress relief, I renovate furniture. For fun, I cut wallpaper! I think that says a lot about me.”

What should I have asked that I didn’t?

“People with followers are so lucky. However, it doesn’t happen overnight. It takes years of hard work. I started doing the renovating because I could make more flipping furniture than I did at my day job. My goal was to save money for the fertilization clinic. We were trying to have children. I do this work today to have time with my kids. We have three children, two through fertilization and one foster child we adopted.”
