We've always believed that how you make something matters as much as what it does.
At Bar Keeper's Friend, making products that work means making them responsibly. Safe for what you clean and who you clean it for. Our cleansers were originally formulated with oxalic acid, a naturally occurring compound found in rhubarb. More than 140 years later, we're still committed to it, because nothing works better on rust stains, hard water, tarnish, mineral scale, and lime deposits.
RECYCLED MATERIALS
Our Powder canisters are made with recycled cardboard and aluminum. The abrasive material in our product, glass oxide, is produced from recycled commercial glass, not virgin crystalline silica which is mined from the earth.
HARVESTING RAIN
More than half of the water we use for our liquid products is rainwater — collected, triple filtered, and UV sterilized. This practice, called rainwater harvesting, reduces demand on municipal water sources and cuts stormwater runoff that causes soil degradation and water pollution. It's one of the ways we make sure what goes into our products is as responsible as what comes out of them.
