Exploring the World of Reddit Cleaning

May 19, 2021

You may already be using Reddit for cleaning tips, but even if you aren’t, you’ve probably heard of it or come across it during an online search. Reddit bills itself as “The front page of the internet.” And that’s not an empty boast. According to Backlinko.com:

  • Reddit has over 430 million monthly active users. An increase of 30.3% from a year earlier.
  • 52 million daily active users access Reddit.
  • 25% of US adults use Reddit.
  • In 2020, Reddit ranked as the 7th most popular social media app in the US.

Using Reddit for Cleaning Tips

Folks use Reddit to find communities, search for answers, and seek advice. One of the largest categories of topics on Reddit is cleaning, cleaning your home, car, boat, and more. There are hundreds of communities, such as The Cleaning Community, where one of the most common answers to how to clean something is – use BKF. If you google Reddit cleaning tips/Bar Keepers Friend, there are more than 600,000 entries.

Check out r/barkeepersfriend on Reddit.

Whatever community you need for cleaning tips, you can find it on Reddit. Need to know how to clean your drum kit, chrome wheels, shower doors, fireplace grate, or something else? Whatever it is, Reddit has your answer.

What I like best and trust most is the answers they share aren’t marketing propaganda from advertising agencies. The content is from users, people like you, and me sharing their experiences and cleaning tips. Here are a few examples:

r/BarKeepersFriend

You didn’t think we’d talk about Reddit, and not mention our own subreddit, did you? Although still relatively new, r/barkeepersfriend is a subreddit all about (you guessed it) Bar Keepers Friend. Redditors can share tips and tricks, before & afters, and even provide product feedback. BKF’s own Communications Specialist, Alex, runs things over there. Go say hello!

r/CleaningTips

“Your one-stop destination for all things cleaning and tidying. Ask for help, share your tips and pictures, and learn how to clean better. This is a positive, encouraging, and wholesome community.” Here’s what a couple of folks from their community said about BKF. “You guys weren’t kidding about Bar Keepers Friend.” “It really ought to be called “Everyone’s Friend”.’

r/Homebrewing

“A place for brewers, mazers, vintners, and cider makers!” One of their more than one million followers shared this, “Bar Keepers Friend is magic. I decided to take a crack at cleaning them with Bar Keepers Friend after reading the Brulosophy cleaning guide, and the results were pretty awesome.”

r/Chefknives

“A place for all things chef knives. A place to talk about the use, maintenance, and acquisition of any bladed kitchen instrument as well as whetstones, cutting boards, and more!” Here’s what one member shared. “This stuff is magic. Make into a paste, and rust just disappears.”

r/Minimalism

“For those that appreciate simplicity in any form, including why.” One of their tribe had this to say about BKF. “Bar Keepers Friend worked like magic!”

r/LifeProTips

LifProTips shares tips that improve your life like this. “Bar Keeper’s Friend is dynamite on stainless steel cookware. I’ve used it on pans coated with thick, sticky, black char. A splash of cold water and the rough side of an ordinary sponge quickly breaks everything down and polishes things nicely.”

And not only Reddit!

We’re Reddit users here at BKF because Reddit is great for cleaning tips, but you can also find cleaning tips and communities on Facebook, for example, Laundry Love & Cleaning Science or our page @BarKeepersFriend.

If you’re more comfortable with other networks, such as Pinterest, Instagram, Twitter, or TikTok, they all have cleaning tip communities.

The Truth Will Set You Free

The world is more open and transparent than ever before. Whether you’re looking for cleaning tips or product reviews, the truth is just a few keystrokes away. Unlike my parents’ generation, who relied primarily on advertisements about products, today’s consumers can learn the truth from the people that know – the end-users.

If you have a specific cleaning tip or question, Contact Us, and we’ll do our best to answer your question.
