Cleaning Your Home Office with BKF
Before discussing BKF, let’s focus on improving your workspace.
First, Declutter
You need to declutter before you can get down and dirty with BKF. It’s hard to clean your desktop when it’s covered with reports from three years ago and older.
- Get rid of anything that doesn’t need to be on your desk or office. For example, I have several old books on my desk that I haven’t looked at in at least a year.
- I also have a stack of papers and folders on a side desk shelf I haven’t looked at for a long time. I just pulled a few folders out and found they were dated 2016.
- Empty drawers and shelves regularly to prevent clutter buildup. Do you have a junk drawer in your office? I do, and it’s past time to clean it out.
- If necessary, rearrange your office to optimize functionality and make cleaning easier. I did this last year, so my desk would be looking out my front window. It may not have made it more efficient, but it’s much more fun. Besides, I see when the mail arrives.
It’s BKF Time!
So, is your work area decluttered? If so, it’s time to get the BKF out. Let’s start with our multipurpose cleaner: MORE Spray + Foam Cleaner. One of the more popular aspects of the product is how MORE clings to horizontal surfaces when set on foam. Another is that the nozzle rotates so it can be turned upside down for hard-to-reach areas, like under my stand-up desktop. It has the same cleaning ingredients as the original Bar Keepers Friend Cleanser but without micro-abrasives, which makes it a safe cleaner for many surfaces.
It works on many countertops and desktops (not recommended for wood). If you’re uncertain about the material, test a small spot with BKF. This is always a good plan, especially if you’re unsure of your desk’s composition.
Here’s more on what to clean with Bar Keepers Friend.
There are hundreds of ways to use BKF products at your home office. Did you know you can use BKF to clean windows?
Do you have a bathroom adjacent to your home office? If so, you can use our Toilet Bowl Cleaner. After flushing the toilet, put six ounces of BKF Toilet Bowl Cleaner evenly all over the bowl. Next, let it sit for five minutes. Before you go to the next step, put on rubber gloves. Now, scrub the bowl with a toilet brush and flush to rinse. It’s that easy!
Dust all surfaces
Use a duster or a microfiber cloth to remove dust from furniture, shelves, windowsills, and monitors. A little More Spray + Foam helps.
Clean the Floor
Vacuum or sweep the floor, paying special attention to high-traffic areas and under furniture. If you have hard floors, mop them to remove dirt and dust. You can also use BKF on many types of floors. Just make sure not to use it on wood.
But Wait, There’s More!
Dedicate a few minutes each day to tidying up your office and preventing clutter from building up. Perform a more thorough cleaning monthly, including cleaning window sills, blinds, and drapes. Store cleaning supplies in a convenient location. Here’s a daily, weekly, and monthly Home Office Cleaning Checklist.
Cleaning and maintaining your home office might be more important than you know. A dirty and cluttered home office can be distracting, making it more challenging to get work done. So, take a few minutes daily to tidy up, wipe down, and organize your home office, and keep some BKF products handy!
