How to Clean a Burnt Pizza Pan

October 11, 2024

Knowing how to clean a burnt pizza pan is essential—well, at least for me—especially since Friday, October 11th, is National Sausage Pizza Day. Who doesn’t love sausage pizza? My wife, for one. She doesn’t eat meat, so I’ve found a few pizzerias that will make ½ half a pizza sausage and the other half cheese and veggies.

It works for us. A sausage pizza is excellent on thin or thick crust, with a variety of cheeses, and with add-on toppings such as mushrooms. I like sprinkling parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes on my sausage pizza treat.

More than one type of sausage works on a pizza. Yes, Italian sausage is the traditional sausage, but why not experiment with chorizo, kielbasa, or whatever your meat market has to offer?

Take-and-Bake

One of the shops where we get our ½ & ½ pizza is a take-and-bake shop. They make it, and we take it home and bake it. It’s one of our favorites. Unfortunately, I don’t always follow the baking instructions as well as I should. I’ve been known to burn cheese and sausage into the pizza pan. Our pizza pan is round with ¼ round holes all over it. When I burn it, the holes can be challenging to clean. So, how do I clean it? With BKF, of course.

How to Clean a Burnt Pizza Pan

To clean a burnt pizza, pan with Bar Keepers Friend, follow these steps:

  1. Wet the pan
  2. Sprinkle BKF Powder Cleanser on the pan
  3. Rub it in with a soft, wet cloth
  4. Rinse with clean water
  5. Wipe dry

Pro Tip: I use an old toothbrush to clean around the holes in the pan.

You can also make a paste with BKF and water, apply it to the pan, and let it sit for up to one minute. Then, rub the paste in a circular motion and wash it with hot, soapy water. BKF is designed to clean burnt pots and pans. It’s bleach-free and doesn’t contain harsh abrasives.
